In line with the initiative a food safety officer from CCBC inspected the Flagstaff Café in order to determine whether the restaurant fully met the requirements of the food hygiene law.

The Officer examined all aspects of the restaurant from the food and cleanliness of the building itself, to the records and management measures set in place to ensure that food is safe at all times.

The scheme has been implemented to help consumers choose where to eat out by providing them with the necessary information regarding the hygiene standards in establishments including restaurants, cafés, takeaways, hotels and food shops.

Scores on the Doors has also been set in place to encourage businesses to improve their hygiene standards and consequently, in turn, reduce the occurrence of food borne illness.

Zoonique’s Managing Director Fiona Edwards said,

“I am absolutely delighted as this was an unannounced visit to inspect the premises and this proves that all systems and procedures are in place and adhered to – it also proves that all my nagging has eventually paid off!

This is the culmination of investment in staff training and dedication by the whole Zoonique team, most of whom are students working to fund hobbies, driving lessons, gap years and University studies. We have had a great season so far and I am proud of all my staff and their hard work.”
