PUMPKINS ALL ROUND - Half-term Halloween Special at the Welsh Mountain Zoo

Macaws, Jazzy and Jake and many other animals will be celebrating Halloween in style at the Welsh Mountain Zoo this year feasting on carved Pumpkins donated by generous Zoo visitors.

The Welsh Mountain Zoo is holding its first ever Halloween event with the bonus of helping to recycle some of the thousands of pumpkins used in Halloween parties the night before. On Thursday November 1st the Welsh Mountain Zoo is offering half price admission to all visitors bringing their used Halloween pumpkins which will then be used to add to the diet of a variety of veggie eaters including the Zoo’s camels, bears, chimpanzees and red pandas.

Visitors who label their creations with their name, age and telephone number will be entered into the “best carved pumpkin” competition for the chance to win a family ticket to see Peter Pan, this year’s Christmas pantomime at Venue Cymru; there is also the chance to win a 12 month animal adoption of their choice, as well as other prizes.

Afternoon feeding times will see Zoo keepers providing animals and visitors with an extra special treat when the donated pumpkins will be packed with wholesome treats of fruit and other vegetables and placed in enclosures to stimulate their natural behaviour.

Date: 1st November 2007

If you missed this event, dont worry as it will be happening again in 2008.
