 SEALED WITH A KISS - Sea Lion Valentine Special at the Welsh Mountain Zoo Macho male sea lion Cousteau and his partner Phoebe are busy preparing for their first anniversary. The romantic pair was introduced at the Welsh Mountain Zoo on Valentines Day last year. Cousteau, who is quite the ladies man, didn’t waste any time getting to know his new mate and within a week the energetic pair was seen frolicking at every opportunity. Sadly for Phoebe, her partner Cousteau also has his eye on some other ladies, namely our sea lion trainers. He loves nothing more than getting up close and personal to the three presenters, and currently he is busy puckering up for the romantic half term special. Visitors to the Welsh Mountain Zoo during February Half Term can watch Cousteau flirt with our keepers and give them a big wet kiss during the twice daily sea lion presentations. Sea lion trainer and presenter Michelle Pywell said “Cousteau is such a flirt, he likes nothing more than a nice wet fishy kiss and to wrap his flippers around me and when he feels particularly passionate he pulls me in and holds me tight”.
