Just 3 minutes drive from the A55 Expressway - exit at Rhos-on-Sea interchange (Junction 20) - the Zoo is signposted from here. From Bangor 20 mins, Caernarfon 30 mins, Prestatyn 35 mins, Porthmadog 70 mins, Wrexham 50 mins, Chester 50 mins, Liverpool 60 mins, Manchester 70 mins.

Free Mini Bus service
At Easter and from May to mid September the Zoo's free minibus will operate a continuous daily service from Colwyn Bay Railway Station.

 

Bangor (20 mins)
Exit Bangor and enter the A55 (Conwy, Betws-y-coed)
Exit the A55 at junction 20 at the Rhos-on-Sea Interchange
At traffic lights turn right onto Brompton Avenue (B5115)
At mini-roundabout turn left onto Conway Road (A547); towards the Town Centre
Take the next right onto Kings Road (B5113) and get in the right lane
Follow the Brown Tourist Signs uphill to the Welsh Mountain Zoo (approximately ½ a mile)

Caernarfon (30 mins)
Take the A487 and continue into Bangor
Exit Bangor at the roundabout and enter the A55 (Conwy, Betws-y-coed)
Exit the A55 at junction 20 at the Rhos-on-Sea Interchange
At traffic lights turn right onto Brompton Avenue (B5115)
At mini-roundabout turn left onto Conway Road (A547); towards the Town Centre
Take the next right onto Kings Road (B5113) and get in the right lane
Follow the Brown Tourist Signs uphill to the Welsh Mountain Zoo (approximately ½ a mile)

Chester (50 mins)
Travel on Wrexham Road A483 (in the North Wales , Wrexham direction)
At Wrexham Road Interchange roundabout take the 3rd exit, then merge onto the A55 (signposted Conwy)
At junction 34 bear left, then merge onto the A55 (signposted Conwy A55, Mold A494)
Exit the A55 at junction 20 at the Rhos-on-Sea Interchange
Bear right onto Princes Drive - B5113
At traffic lights turn right onto Conway Road- A547 (signposted Rhos-on-Sea, Conwy A55)
Take the next left onto Kings Road (B5113) and get in the right lane
Follow the Brown Tourist Signs uphill to the Welsh Mountain Zoo (approximately ½ a mile)

Prestatyn (35 mins)
Set out towards Rhyl along the coast road (A548)
Drive past Lyons Robin Hood Camp and turn right at the traffic lights
Drive along the coast along Rhyl Promenade
Turn right at the roundabout to go over the blue bridge (A548)
Continue forward through Kimnel Bay and into Towyn, keeping to the Coast Road (A548)
At the roundabout in Towyn take the 1st exit onto Dundonald Avenue (A548)
Bear left and then merge onto the A55.
Exit the A55 at junction 20 at the Rhos-on-Sea Interchange
Bear right onto Princes Drive- B5113
At traffic lights turn right onto Conway Road- A547 (signposted Rhos-on-Sea, Conwy A55)
Take the next left onto Kings Road (B5113) and get in the right lane
Follow the Brown Tourist Signs uphill to the Welsh Mountain Zoo (approximately ½ a mile)

Wrexham (50 mins)
Head onto the A541 and continue onto Mold Roadentering Gwersyllt and Caergwrle
At traffic signals turn right onto the A550 (signposted Queensferry)
At T-junction turn left onto Wrexham Road- A550
Continue forward onto the A550 into Penyffordd
At roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A550 (signposted Queensferry, Chester A55)
At Wrexham Road Interchange roundabout take the 2nd exit, then merge onto the A55 (signposted Conwy)
At junction 34 bear left, then merge onto the A55(signposted Conwy A55, Mold A494)
Exit the A55 at junction 20 at the Rhos-on-Sea Interchange
Bear right onto Princes Drive- B5113
At traffic lights turn right onto Conway Road- A547 (signposted Rhos-on-Sea, Conwy A55)
Take the next left onto Kings Road (B5113) and get in the right lane
Follow the Brown Tourist Signs uphill to the Welsh Mountain Zoo (approximately ½ a mile)

Porthmadog (70 mins)
Set out towards Caernarfon, passing through the villages of Tremadog, Penmorfa, Dolbenmaen, Bryncir and Pantglas (A487)
Take the 2nd exit at the roundabout into Penygroes (signposted Caernarfon)
Take the 2nd exit on the second roundabout
Take the second exit on the third roundabout, entering Bontnewydd (A487)
Take the 2nd exit onto Ffordd Bont Saint
Continue forward into Caernarfon
Carry on along the A487, continuing into Bangor
Exit Bangor at the roundabout and enter the A55 (Conwy, Betws-y-coed)
Exit the A55 at junction 20 at the Rhos-on-Sea Interchange
At traffic lights turn right onto Brompton Avenue (B5115)
