Winged Wonders at the Zoo The hawks and owls who have been long term favourites during flying displays at the Welsh Mountain Zoo are joined this year for the first time by Chico the Macaw and Johnny Rook the Caracara, as the Welsh Mountain Zoo expands its interactive visitor displays. In 1963 the Welsh Mountain Zoo was the first animal collection in Britain to introduce free flying bird displays as a means of activity and to showcase the birds flying skills. The new, twice daily Winged Wonders displays will take place in the Zoo's spectacular hill top setting with a backdrop of the mountains of Snowdonia and the Conwy Valley. Zoo Director, Chris Jackson said 'our new displays will offer zoo visitors an exciting and informative opportunity to see a wide variety of birds replicating their natural hunting behaviour'. Date: 3rd April 2007
