There are around 10,000 species of birds around the world. Birds are an incredibly diverse range of species but do share some common features, they’re all are warm-blooded, covered in feathers and lay eggs.
Most birds fly with a few exceptions such as the Ostrich or the Rhea yet all have very impressive sharp eyesight, helping them to spot their prey or predators across a vast distance.
Our birds originate from very different environments such as the icy waters of the speedy Humboldt Penguin to the shallow shores of the Chilean Flamingos, the high treetops of the Owl and the low plains of the Emu. We’re particularly proud of our free-flying bird display (seasonal), where you can get up close and personal with some of these majestic and powerful species.
