Educational Sessions

Educational Sessions

Educators working with all ages and abilities are encouraged to use our extensive facilities, access a wealth of information and tap into the knowledge of our exceptional staff at the Welsh Mountain Zoo.

In line with government guidance on COVID-19, we’ve made some changes to our Zoo operations. For the latest updates on safety measures in place please click here.

Our WILD Centre (Wildlife Inspiring Learning and Discovery), offers a diverse range of educational sessions, all linking to the national curriculum and are designed to enhance learning away from the usual classroom in an inspirational environment. Sessions begin for the tiniest of animal-tastic lovers beginning their educational journey in nursery, ranging right up to students in higher education.

For those unable to visit the Zoo, why not bring the Zoo to you? Members of our Education Team are able to join classes at schools and community groups as part of our outreach programme.

All of our sessions allow for tactile learning through a diverse range of artefacts such as animal furs, feathers, scales, teeth and sheds/skins. Where possible, education staff will also try to introduce the use of an animal within their session. (Please note – this is at the discretion of the Education Manager and will depend on the welfare of the animal in question on the day).
