Our Demonstrations and Species Talks are a fun, interactive way to dive deeper into the lives of our incredible residents. Whether you’re a budding zoologist, an animal lover, or simply looking to add something extra to your visit, our engaging talks and demonstrations bring the wonders of wildlife to life!
Animal Demonstrations
Learn all about our animals as we showcase their unique abilities and behaviours through live demonstrations. These sessions provide an exciting way for guests of all ages to learn about the fascinating adaptations, natural instincts, and skills of some of our most beloved species.
April to October
Birds of Prey Free Flying Display and Penguin Parade [CURRENTLY ON HIATUS DUE TO AVIAN INFLUENZA PREVENTION ZONE DECLARATION]:
Watch our majestic birds of prey in flight as they demonstrate their incredible hunting skills. In our charming Penguin Parade, you can watch our playful penguins waddle across the Flying Arena in a fun and fascinating display! This delightful experience offers a rare chance to see these adorable birds up close while learning about their unique behaviours (subject to weather conditions).
- Location: Flying Arena opposite the California Sea Lion Habitat
- Time: Every day at 11:00am and 3:00pm
Sea Lion Demonstrations
Watch our Keeper team interact with our California Sea Lions through animal enrichment activities and positive reinforcement training, demonstrating the strong bond built between the animals and their keepers.

- Time: Every day at 12:00pm and 3:00pm

Our Species Talks at the Welsh Mountain Zoo provide an exciting opportunity to learn directly from our dedicated Keeper team about the fascinating animals in our care. With a variety of talks available, you’ll discover incredible facts about everything from big cats to primates, amazing mammals to brilliant birds, all while gaining a deeper understanding of wildlife conservation.

November to March
