At the Welsh Mountain Zoo, we believe learning about animals should be as exciting as it is educational. Our Demonstrations and Species Talks are a fun, interactive way to dive deeper into the lives of our incredible animals. Whether you’re a budding zoologist, an animal lover, or simply looking to add something extra to your visit, our engaging talks and demonstrations bring the wonders of wildlife to life!
Animal Demonstrations
Learn all about our animals as we showcase their unique abilities and behaviours through live demonstrations. These sessions provide an exciting way for guests of all ages to learn about the fascinating adaptations, natural instincts, and skills of some of our most beloved species.
Summer 2025
Sea Lion Demonstrations
Watch our Keeper team interact with our California Sea Lions through animal enrichment activities and positive reinforcement training, demonstrating the strong bond built between the animals and their keepers.

Birds of Prey Free Flying Display
Watch our majestic birds of prey in flight as they demonstrate their incredible hunting skills.
- Location: Flying Arena opposite the California Sea Lion Habitat
- Time: Every day at 11:00am and 3:30pm
Penguin Parade is currently taking a little break:
Our Penguin Parade is Taking a Little Break!
To help protect our penguins, the parade is currently on pause following the Avian Influenza Prevention Zone declaration across Wales.
Don’t worry though – our penguins are still out and about in their habitat, and you can see them up close during your visit!

Species Talks
Our Species Talks at the Welsh Mountain Zoo provide an exciting opportunity to learn directly from our dedicated Keeper team about the fascinating animals in our care. With a variety of talks available, you’ll discover incredible facts about everything from big cats to primates, amazing mammals to brilliant birds, all while gaining a deeper understanding of wildlife conservation.

Avian Influenza Update: Following the declaration of an Avian Influenza Prevention Zone across Wales, we’ve temporarily paused the following activities to help protect our penguins: Penguin Parades and Humboldt Penguin Animal Experiences.
While the Penguin Parade is on hold, our flying bird demonstrations are continuing as usual, and the penguins remain on full view for guests to visit.
