Species Talks

Our Species Talks at the Welsh Mountain Zoo provide an exciting opportunity to learn directly from our dedicated Keeper team about the fascinating animals in our care. With a variety of talks available, you’ll discover incredible facts about everything from big cats to primates, amazing mammals to brilliant birds, all while gaining a deeper understanding of wildlife conservation.

Avian Influenza Update: Following the declaration of an Avian Influenza Prevention Zone across Wales, we’ve temporarily paused the following activities to help protect our penguins: Penguin Parades and Humboldt Penguin Animal Experiences.

While the Penguin Parade is on hold, our flying bird demonstrations are continuing as usual, and the penguins remain on full view for guests to visit.

Everyday:

Sea Lion Demonstrations:
12:00pm & 15:00pm

Watch our Keeper team interact with our California Sea Lions through animal enrichment activities and positive reinforcement training, demonstrating the strong bond built between the animals and their keepers.

Penguin talk and feed:
12:30pm

The Penguin Talk and Feed at the Welsh Mountain Zoo is a fun and informative experience where visitors can watch the zoo’s playful penguins up close while learning about their behaviour, diet, and conservation. During the session, keepers share interesting facts about the penguins’ natural habitats and how the zoo helps protect them, all while feeding the birds and encouraging their lively interactions. It’s a great opportunity for visitors of all ages to connect with wildlife and gain a deeper appreciation for these charming animals.
