Catering
Our award winning, local caterers, Graze, manage and operate all of our food outlets including the Safari Restaurant and Penguin Café.
Serving the freshest and tastiest local fare, we cater for every palate from traditional snacks and treats to vegan and gluten free options. Our commitment to working with local suppliers means we are able to use locally grown and cultivated ingredients, adding an authentic taste of North Wales to our food!
Penguin Café
Our Penguin Cafe has wonderful panoramic views across the estuary. Set in one of the most idyllic positions in the Zoo, overlooking the Penguin and Chimpanzee enclosures, it’s easy to see why people plan a visit here as part of their day.
Offering sandwiches and paninis as well as salads and jacket potatoes, the relaxing, light and airy environment makes this the perfect place for a pit stop.
Safari Restaurant
Our flagship Safari Restaurant sits at the heart of the Zoo, right next to the Sumatran Tigers enclosure.
We’ve got lots of your favourite hot and cold snacks here including nuggets and chips and burgers as well as healthy options. It’s warm and friendly, and, as well as offering some tasty treats, is a great place to recharge your batteries and maybe spot one of our big cats on the prowl!
Food on the Go!
If you’re simply looking for some quick food on the go, you can enjoy ice creams and drinks from the Zoolicious sweet shop or Penguin Kiosk (open during busy periods). Don’t forget, we have lots of space outside for you to enjoy and relax on the grassy slopes, so there’s plenty of space for picnics!
Please note that some of our food outlets do close in accordance with seasonal variations in visitor numbers and demand.
Picnics
Nestled in the picturesque surroundings of North Wales, the Welsh Mountain Zoo offers a truly unique picnic experience for guests! Surrounded by lush greenery and panoramic views of our Flagstaff Gardens and the Carneddau mountains, the zoo provides an idyllic setting to enjoy a relaxing day out with family or friends.
Whether you’re bringing a homemade lunch or grabbing a snack from the on-site café, the peaceful outdoor spaces are perfect for unwinding while surrounded by nature and fascinating wildlife.
Guests can take a leisurely stroll between animal habitats before settling down for a picnic, with designated areas offering scenic views and ample seating.
There is also a selection of covered picnic areas in case of bad weather!
