Gift in Will

Leaving a gift in your will is a meaningful way to protect and care for wildlife for years to come.

Your legacy can help restore balance to nature, ensuring a brighter future for endangered animals and their habitats. At a time when our planet’s biodiversity faces immense challenges, your support can make a lasting difference.
With your generosity, we can connect people with nature, develop innovative ways to protect wildlife, and inspire future conservation leaders.
Together, we can create a world where people and wildlife thrive side by side—safeguarding precious species for generations to come.

Leaving a legacy to the National Zoological Society of Wales is simple. Your solicitor can easily update your existing will to include us as a beneficiary. They will need the following details:

  • Our address: Welsh Mountain Zoo, Colwyn Bay, Conwy LL28 5UY
  • Our registered charity number: 514108

You can choose to leave either a fixed amount (a pecuniary legacy) or a percentage of your estate (a residual legacy).

If you’d like your gift to support a specific zoo project, you can request a “Purpose gift to the National Zoological Society of Wales.” However, we recommend avoiding naming specific species, as needs may change over time. Please contact us for guidance on how to word your gift to make the greatest impact.

Having a valid, up to date will ensure your wishes are honoured, allowing you to care for loved ones and support the causes you cherish.

Your generosity means the world to us.

Whilst you don’t need to inform us if you’ve left a gift, we’d love the opportunity to thank you. If you’re comfortable sharing, please contact our fundraising team at pfm@welshmountainzoo.org

Frequently Asked Questions

Every gift supports our expert conservationists, pioneering scientists and dedicated keepers in their mission to help species and nature thrive. Unrestricted gifts are especially important, allowing us to direct funds where conservation needs are greatest.

Yes, you can choose to support a specific species or area of conservation work. This can be included in your will as either a ‘wish’ or a ‘condition.’ Your solicitor can guide you on the best approach.

What is the difference between a ‘wish’ and a ‘condition’?

  • A ‘wish’ allows us to do our best to honour your request, while also giving us flexibility to use the funds more broadly if needed (e.g., if the specified species is no longer in our care).
  • A ‘condition’ legally restricts the use of your gift to the specific purpose stated in your will. If we are unable to fulfil the condition, we may be required to return the funds to your estate.
