Did you know that monkeys, apes and even humans all belong to the primate family? These incredible animals are our closest relatives, and if you watch them closely, you’ll spot some familiar behaviours.
Primates are curious, intelligent and playful. Most love swinging through the trees, while others prefer to stay on the ground. With their strong arms, long fingers and amazing climbing skills, they’re built for adventure! Just like us, they’re also very social and love spending time with their families.
At the Welsh Mountain Zoo, we’re lucky to care for a variety of primates, including Chimpanzees, Spider Monkeys, Lar Gibbons, Ring-Tailed Lemurs, Cotton-Top Tamarins and Goeldi’s Monkeys.
