The largest flying bird in the world, the Andean Condor is a true giant of the skies—with a wingspan stretching over three metres and the strength to glide for miles without a single flap. But despite their power and grace, these magnificent birds are in trouble. Hunted and wrongly feared, their numbers are falling fast. With just one egg laid every couple of years, their slow reproduction makes it hard for populations to recover. Found in wild, open spaces like deserts and grasslands, the Condor plays a vital role in the ecosystem by cleaning up carrion. Without them, nature suffers.
