Big cats are the ultimate predators, with razor-sharp teeth and powerful claws that make them some of the most skilled hunters in the wild!
At the Welsh Mountain Zoo, we’re lucky to care for Sumatran Tigers, Snow Leopards and Margay. Our Snow Leopards are classed as vulnerable, so we’re incredibly proud to have successfully bred both Snow Leopards and Margay in recent years—helping to protect these amazing species for the future!
Watch as our big cats prowl and play in specially designed habitats that reflect the wild landscapes of Asia, South America and the Himalayas. Come and see these incredible animals up close and discover more about their world!
The Welsh Mountain Zoo supports the… Wildcats Conservation Alliance
The Wildcats Conservation Alliance is a global partnership between the Zoological Society of London and the Dreamworld Wildlife Foundation, working to protect wild Tigers and Amur Leopards. By funding carefully chosen conservation projects, they’re helping to give these incredible big cats a future.
Right now, only around 100 Amur Leopards and 4,000 wild Tigers remain. Thanks to dedicated conservation efforts, their numbers have stabilised, but there’s still a long way to go to ensure their survival.
Zoos play a huge role in supporting this mission, contributing over £2.7 million to Tiger and Amur Leopard conservation since 1997. By visiting us at the Welsh Mountain Zoo, you’re helping us continue this vital work to protect these amazing animals!
