Chimpanzees, our closest relatives, are under the looming threat of extinction. Just 50 years ago, over a million lived in Africa’s forests — now only 170,000 to 300,000 individuals remain as poaching, deforestation and disease threaten their survival.

These intelligent animals share nearly 99% of our DNA, live in tight-knit troops and depend on forests for food and shelter. Their loud calls echo through the trees, but as their homes disappear, so does their future. We must act now to protect them!
