IUCN Listing: Not Evaluated

The hardy Welsh Mountain Goat roams the rugged hills of Snowdonia, from Beddgelert to Cadair Idris. Though not native to the region, this species has lived in Wales for centuries! They munch on plants, form strong family herds, and live up to 15 years in the wild. Males are called “billies,” females “nannies,” and their babies “kids.” While not officially endangered, their habitats still require protection as the impact of human movement and industrialisation affects the natural landscape of Wales.
